Privacy Policy

UP has no accounts, asks for no sign-up and does not keep your progress on the developer’s servers. Here is, plainly, what happens to your data.

Effective October 6, 2026

In short

  • No account, no sign-in, no password. The developer never receives what you watched.
  • Your progress stays on your device and, if iCloud is on, in your private iCloud, which only you can access.
  • The free version shows Google AdMob ads. Personalized ads only with your permission.
  • The UP Pro subscription is processed by Apple and turns ads off. The developer never sees your payment details.
  • No personal data is sold.

1. Who is responsible

The UP – Universe Path app (iPhone) and the up.agivigir.tech website are created and maintained by Arthur Givigir, an independent developer and private individual based in Brazil. Under Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Law 13,709/2018) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), he is the controller of the little data described here that reaches him. Contact for any privacy matter: agivigir [at] gmail.com.

This policy covers the app and this website. Third-party services mentioned here (Apple, Google, TMDB, Cloudflare) have their own policies, linked in each section.

2. Your progress stays with you

What you record in UP is stored on your device:

  • movies, series and episodes marked as watched;
  • favorites, journey progress and dates you set;
  • app preferences, such as the universe in focus, appearance and icon.

If you are signed in to iCloud, this data syncs across your devices through your iCloud private database (CloudKit), tied to your Apple ID. That space is yours: the developer has no access to it, cannot see its contents and cannot link it to you. The Home Screen widget reads the same data locally, on the device.

iCloud storage is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

3. Catalog and images

To show movies, series, dates and journeys, the app downloads catalog files from up.agivigir.tech (hosted on Cloudflare) and posters and images from image.tmdb.org (The Movie Database, TMDB). These requests are anonymous: they carry no account, no advertising identifier and nothing about your progress.

As with any internet connection, the servers that respond receive technical connection data, such as your IP address and basic device and system information. Cloudflare and TMDB may keep temporary logs to run and protect their services, under their own policies: Cloudflare and TMDB. The developer does not use these logs to identify anyone.

When you tap “where to watch” or other external links, the destination (for example TMDB or a streaming service) opens outside the app, and its own policy applies.

4. Ads (Google AdMob)

The free version of UP shows unobtrusive banners served by Google AdMob, from Google LLC (Google Ireland Limited in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland). Ads appear on Home and Timeline, never in the middle of marking something as watched.

What Google’s ads SDK may collect

DataPurposeNeeds permission?
Apple advertising identifier (IDFA)Personalize and measure ads across appsYes. Only accessed if you allow tracking in the iOS prompt.
IP address and approximate location derived from itServe region-appropriate ads, prevent fraudNo. It is inherent to the connection.
Device and system information (model, iOS version, language)Display the ad correctly, measure performanceNo
Ad interactions (impressions, taps)Measurement, frequency capping, fraud preventionNo
SDK diagnostics (crashes, performance)Keep the service workingNo

This data goes straight from your device to Google. The developer only receives aggregated ad revenue and performance reports, with nothing that identifies you.

Your choices

  • Google consent. In the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and US states with specific privacy laws, the app shows Google’s consent message before your data is used for ads. You can review that choice anytime in Settings → Privacy options (shown where the law requires it).
  • iOS tracking. The app asks, through Apple’s official prompt, whether it may track you across other companies’ apps and websites. If you decline, the IDFA is not shared and ads are not personalized based on that activity. To change it later: iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Non-personalized ads. Without permission, Google may still show contextual ads using limited data such as that in the table above, with no interest profile.
  • No ads. With UP Pro, the app does not ask for ad consent, does not show the tracking prompt and does not start the ads SDK.

More on Google’s processing: how Google uses information from apps that use its services, Google Privacy Policy and My Ad Center.

5. UP Pro subscription

The subscription is sold and processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. The developer never receives your name, email, address or payment details. The app only checks on the device, through Apple’s StoreKit, whether there is an active subscription to unlock the benefits. Apple gives the developer only aggregated sales reports.

Manage or cancel: iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. This data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

6. When you write to the developer

If you send an email (from the app, from this website or directly), the developer receives your email address, your name if it appears in the message, and what you wrote. This is used only to reply and resolve your request; it is never added to marketing lists or shared. Email is run on Gmail, by Google.

7. Diagnostics

UP uses no analytics tools and sends no usage logs to the developer. The app’s technical logs stay on the device. If you turned on Share With App Developers in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymized crash reports and usage statistics with the developer. You can turn this off anytime in the same place.

8. This website

The up.agivigir.tech website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. Fonts are served by the site itself. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, processes technical connection data, such as your IP address, to deliver pages and protect against abuse.

9. What UP does not do

  • Does not sell or rent personal data.
  • Does not create accounts, profiles or user records.
  • Does not ask for precise location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
  • Does not send marketing notifications.
  • Does not build a profile of what you watch for advertising.

11. Your rights and controls

Under the LGPD (art. 18), the GDPR, US state privacy laws and similar laws, you may request confirmation of processing, access, correction, anonymization, deletion, portability, information about sharing and withdrawal of consent. Since the developer does not keep your usage data, you exercise most of these rights directly in the app or on your device:

  • Delete your history: Settings → Your data → Delete history data. With iCloud on, your other devices are cleared too.
  • Delete iCloud data: iPhone Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → UP.
  • Delete everything on the device: removing the app deletes its local data.
  • Ads: Settings → Privacy options, the iOS Tracking setting and Google’s tools listed in section 4.
  • Emails exchanged: ask for access or deletion using the contact below.

We answer requests within 15 days. You may also complain to Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) or to the data protection authority in your country.

12. International transfers

Apple, Google, Cloudflare and TMDB may process data outside Brazil, including in the United States and the European Union. These companies state that they use safeguards for such transfers, such as standard contractual clauses, under their own policies.

13. Retention and security

The developer keeps only the emails exchanged with you, for as long as needed to handle the matter. All other data described here stays on your device, in your iCloud or with the third parties named, for the periods they define.

All app and website connections use HTTPS. iCloud data is protected by Apple, encrypted in transit and at rest.

14. Children

UP is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent us data, write to us and it will be deleted.

15. Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling data differently, this page will be updated first, with a new effective date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app or on this website.

16. Contact
